Art Update!

I just had this image in my head for awhile and had to paint it!
And finally I did :)

This is from a personal sci-fi post-apocalyptic project that I'm currently working on.
More to come!

Liliana "Frost"

So I've been introduced to the world of Magic the Gathering recently and been really digging it.
And I thought I'd do a fan art for one of my favorite planeswalkers, Liliana Vess.

Below are the sketch process that was followed by multiple composition study thumbnails (aka scribbles in my sketchbook):

Line Sketch Pass

Grey-scale Value Pass

This ended up being one of the most challenging things I've ever painted.
I think I was trying to do too much at once and learned that illustrations are better when it's simple and well-done.

Brainstorm MTG Challenge

From Brainstorm, ran by James Paick and John Park, challenge.
It was to design a Magic the Gathering Black/Red basic land card.
I took a twist and went with a frozen theme.

UT4 + Random Update

Epic Games and Scribble Pad Studios finally released some of my art that I did early 2014.
One of the first to bust through NDA =D
These sketches were art directed by both James Paick and Chris Perna.

I also had another chance to teach a few lectures at ACAD on digital painting and cinematography.
I might, and I strongly accent the "might", do a free gumroad tutorial on cinematography sometime next year!

...And couple of random sketches / studies

Also, my portfolio's finally coming together.
I plan on taking a short break from work so I can upgrade it!
More to come, but here's a sneak peek on a WIP:

Photobash Demo

I've been super busy with work and haven't been able to post!
This was a 1 hour photobash sketch demo that I did back in November, 2014 at ACAD.
I was demonstrating couple of tools in Photoshop and some shape language lecture.

Portrait workshop stuff!

I did a digital painting workshop at ACAD in Calgary.
They wanted me to do some portraits so I did...
Didn't have a model so took a random photo online and painted it for an hour and half.

And this is a personal work that I did for my beutiful cousin, Sojung Lee,
who's a well-known singer in South Korea.
She recently went through some really tough times and I wanted to cheer her up.

I've been super busy with work so the blog has been slow on uploads.
But I'm hoping to upload more personal work as my new portfolio is slowly coming together.
